This article explores the concept of the “social license” of renewable energy and the evolution from the classic NIMBY (“Not In My Backyard”) reaction toward a new phenomenon: NIMTO (“Not In My Term of Office”), where political incentives and governance dynamics shape how renewable projects are accepted or rejected.
